Lorraine Martin

Lorraine is a co-founder of ProAxsis Ltd. and a Senior Lecturer in Molecular Pharmaceutics within the School of Pharmacy, Queen’s University Belfast.  She is an expert in protease biochemistry and biomarker assay development which has allowed her to develop a substantial programme of translational research, and has enabled her to enjoy significant interaction with industry.  To date, she has played a pivotal role in the commercialisation of ProteaseTag™ technology across a range of platforms for use at point of care and as tools for both academic and pharmaceutical research.  Lorraine has won several awards for ProAxsis including a Horizon 2020 SME Instrument Award (Sept 2014) and the Northern Ireland Science Park (NISP) Connect overall 25K award in 2013.  Dr Martin was also shortlisted as a finalist for the Women in Business NI Awards, 2014. 

Dr Martin holds a BSc and PhD in Biochemistry and a Masters of Medical Science in Clinical Laboratory Medicine from Queen's University Belfast.
